This abstract drawing work is inspired by the famous essay- The Storyteller, written by Walter Benjamin, this essay is especially close to my heart, as it incidentally became the point of departure for my MA dissertation- Oral Story Telling Traditions Of India, The …future histories

 

This work is inspired by Benjamins analysis of Leskov’s favorite characters,

"the righteous"—simple, often uneducated people (like artisans or low-ranking soldiers) who embody a quiet, instinctive morality.

 

They act as a bridge between the earthly world and the divine, acting righteously without needing complex ethical theories.

 

And just like Leskov, who by refusing to over-explain why things happen, allows the story to retain its raw power, forcing the reader to interpret its meaning for themselves. I too would like the viewer to let the work speak to them and coax the viewer to find the meaning in them.
